In a long and painful operation,
with transfusions of our own blood,
we have flayed the stripes
off the unfortunate zebra
and stitched on a horsehide.
with transfusions of our own blood,
we have flayed the stripes
off the unfortunate zebra
and stitched on a horsehide.
We have replaced its legs
with a horse's legs.
We have given it a racetrack,
a surrey, cows to herd,
a pretty rider with shiny boots.
We have braided its tail
and combed its mane.
We have spoken gently and sternly.
But still the blasted thing seems sick,
and will not run.
